Hong Kong Island

Getting to Hong Kong Island

Ferry - Take the Star Ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central (HK$2.2). It crosses the Victoria harbour every few minutes, and the ride is very quick, so it's the easiest way to get to Hong Kong island.
Subway - Take the MTR from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central.

Hong Kong Island Hotel review

There are many hotels in Hong Kong island. If you are on a business trip and your offices are on Hong Kong island, you probably should stay here, otherwise I advise to stay at Kowloon which offers more tourist attractions.

See and do in Hong Kong Island

Victoria Peak

Being the highest point in the island (about 550m above sea level), Victoria Peak scenic outlook is a must.
To get to the Peak, the best way is to take the Peak Tram, an old train now used only by tourists. The scenic ride takes about 7 minutes and costs HK$33 (round trip).
Getting to The Peak Tram Terminus is easy, simply walk there from the MTR in Central or take a bus.
My advise is to get there late afternoon, and enjoy the view in both daylight and night.
Check here for more info about Hong Kong Peak Tram.

Repulse Bay

Located at the south part of Hong Kong island, this is one of the nicest beaches (don't forget to follow the shark warnings).
There is also a small outdoor temple a few meters from the shoreline, with a few colored statuses that you will not find in most tamples.

Stanley Market

Near Repulse Bay, Stanley Market is a great open air market with many shops, restaurants and pubs.

Aberdeen Country Park

This is a vast park that offers a scenic landscape, hiking trails, picnic areas and more.
In the park you will find the only visitor information centre in Hong Kong island, that includes interesting nature-related exhibits.

Man Mo Temple

Hong Kong island is not the place to look for temples, but Man Mo Temple is worth a visit. It is one of the most beautiful and oldest temples on the island (built in 1847).
The temple is dedicated to Man, the god of literature, and Mo, the god of war. Inside the temple there are many incenses and candles, especially incense coils, which Man Mo temple is famous for.
The temple is on Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan, and open from 8am to 6pm daily.
