Kowloon

Kowloon ("Nine Dragons" in Cantonese) is the peninsula at the tip of China mainland, north of Hong Kong Island, that has a lot of places to shop and eat.
Kowloon is also Hong Kong's cultural centre, with several museums and temples.

Getting to Kowloon

From Kong Kong Island - Take the Star Ferry from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui (2.2 HKD).
From China mainland
- Just head south via the New Territories.

Hotels in Kowloon

There are so many hotels in Kowloon, and if you want to stay in Kowloon, the best area to be is Tsim Sha Tsui.
A recommended hotel is Goungdong, it is close to Natan Road and MTR station.

See and do in Kowloon

Tsim Sha Tsui

The tip of the peninsula which faces Hong Kong island is probably the best known part of Kowloon. Tsim Sha Tsui is a one squere km area with many shops, pubs and restaurants.
Ocean Terminal is a big shopping center that worth a visit.
The Promenade (on the east side of Tsim Sha Tsui) has wonderful views of Victoria Harbour and is a great place for a evening walk.

Nathan Road

Nathan Road, known as "The Golden Mile" of Kowloon, is an array of shops, fast food stalls and, of course, hotels.

Kowloon Park

A nice place to take a rest, where you can enjoy Chinese gardens, sculptures and small waterfalls. Inside the park there ars also the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Kowloon Mosque.

Wong Tai Sin Temple

Wong Tai Sin Temple (also called Sik Sik Yuen) is one of the most known Taoist temples in Hong Kong. Its beauty is in its traditional Chinese style and architecture.
Inside the temple there is also a small park called "The Good Wish Gardens", where you can take a rest.

Space Museum

Hong Kong Space Museum features interesting exhibitions about space science and astronomy, including some interactive rides (like virtual paraglider).

Museum of Art

Hong Kong Museum of Art is dedicated to preserve the cultural heritage of China, and features more than 14,000 art pieces, including Chinese paintings and calligraphy, antique treasures and more.

Markets

Temple Street Market - The best night market in the area is on Temple street in Yau Ma Tei, which comes to life after dark. To get there, take the MTR to Jordan station.
Ladies Night Market - a large market around Argyle Street.

Shooping in Kowloon

Seems like everybody is shooping. The best shooping areas in Kowloon are:
Nathan Road
Jordan
Yau Ma Tei
For electronics, I suggest to visit the shopping center at Nelson street, near the ladies market (take the MTR to Mong Kok station).

Kowloon Nightlife

The nightlife in Kowloon os mostly consentrated around Tsim Sha Tsui area, which is packed with many pubs and clubs.
Ned Kelly's Last Stand - A cosy pub with live music and mainly Australian food. On Ashley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.
